abstract | The present invention relates to an inoculant for producing cast iron using spheroidal ink, the inoculant comprising a granular bismuth iron alloy consisting of: between about 40 and 80 weight percent of Si; 0.02 to 10 weight percent of Ca; 0-15 % by weight of rare earth metal; 0-5 weight percent of Al; 0-5 weight percent of Sr; 0-5 weight percent of Mg; 0-12 weight percent of Ba; 0-10 weight percent of Zr; Ti by weight; 0-10% by weight of Mn; wherein at least one of the elements Ba, Sr, Zr, Mn, or Ti or a sum thereof is present in an amount of at least 0.05% by weight, the balance being a flat constant Fe and incidental impurities Wherein the inoculant additionally contains from 0.1 to 15% by weight, based on the total weight of the inoculant, of particulate Sb 2 O 3 ; the invention also relates to a method of making the inoculant and the use of the inoculant. |
