Method of making optical molding materials |
abstract |
The present invention relates to a method for manufacturing an optical molding material based on methyl methacrylate, wherein the MMA has been manufactured by an optimization method and the molding material is characterized by an extremely low yellowing index. This MMA utilized according to the present invention has been manufactured by direct oxidative esterification of methacrolein. In particular, the invention relates to an optimized post-treatment of the output of the oxidative esterification of methacrolein, with which the discoloration by-products are removed in particular. This method also has the advantage that fewer requirements are placed on the plant equipment configuration than those described in the prior art. |
