abstract |
The present invention provides an alkali boroaluminosilicate glass with high resistance to crack initiation and damage due to severe impact. The glass composition has a melting temperature and a formation temperature that allow the glass to be formed into a sheet through a float-based process while still allowing the glass to be efficiently ion-exchanged. The glass compositions contain MgO, and when subjected to ion exchange, the glass compositions have a Vickers indentation fracture initial load of at least about 10-15 kgf. |
