abstract An imaging device includes a light detector and an optical filter disposed on a light receiving surface of the light detector. The optical filter may include a diffraction grating, a core layer, and a reflector disposed on the first and second sides opposite to the core layer. In some cases, the optical filter (eg, a GMR filter) uses electromagnetic waves to interfere on one of the planes of light incidence or a plane parallel to the incident plane. The reflector can reflect electromagnetic waves between adjacent optical filters. For example, the technology of the present invention can be applied to an image sensor with a GMR filter, such as a back-side illumination or front-side illumination CMOS image sensor.
