The present disclosure relates to a method for treating, preventing or reducing organ transplant rejection and graft versus host disease using sir. In accordance with embodiments of the present disclosure, administration of spirulina to a recipient individual or donor organ prior to transplantation reduces the immune response of the recipient individual against the transplanted organ or reduces the risk of GVHD production by the recipient individual. |
