The present invention relates to an additive composition for controlling and inhibiting the polymerization of monomers, wherein the composition comprises (a) a phenol compound containing a catechol compound and (b1) an aliphatic triamine, (b2) an aliphatic triamine An oxide-treated derivative of a secondary amine, or a combination of (b3) a mixture thereof, wherein the aliphatic tertiary amine contains one or more hydroxyl groups in the alkyl chain of the aliphatic tertiary amine. In one embodiment, the present invention also relates to a method for controlling and inhibiting the polymerization of monomers by utilizing the additive composition of the present invention. In another embodiment, the present invention also relates to a method for controlling and inhibiting monomer polymerization using the additive composition of the present invention. In another embodiment, the present invention also relates to a method for controlling and inhibiting polymerization of monomers in a primary fractionator (or an ethylene plant), a method for operating a primary fractionator, and a method for reducing primary fractionator. Methods of fouling and polymer deposition, and methods to extend the operating length of the primary fractionator or ethylene plant. |
