The present invention teaches an emitted white light solid state light source that exhibits incandescent lamp-like characteristics, operating at an excitation density of from about 0.1 to about 100 watts per square millimeter, comprising or consisting of: (a) a primary light source; (b) configured in the a light-emitting layer that emits primary radiation on a primary light source; and (c) a light-emitting screen that converts the primary radiation into radiation suitable for addressing illumination applications, wherein the light-emitting layer comprises at least one phosphor selected from at least two Cation activation of a group consisting of Ce 3+ , Mn 2+ , Pr 3+ , and Eu 2+ . |
