| abstract |
A method of coating a glass-based object with a coating, such as cover glass, and the coating is not deposited on the peripheral edges of the glass-based object. The method includes placing a beveled mask over the glass-based object to protect the peripheral portion of the glass-based object from coating during the deposition process. The size of the brim can form a coating with a non-uniform coating thickness region around the coating edge, which is invisible to the naked eye on the surface of the glass-based object. The method can be used to make glass-based articles with non-opposite coatings. |
