abstract |
A disclosed light emitting device can provide white light with a cyan gap that conforms to a range of melanin sensitivity and therefore has reduced melanin content. The disclosed light emitting device may include a light source that provides ultraviolet or blue light having a peak wavelength below one of 450 nanometers (nm). The disclosed light emitting device may include at least one down-converter coupled to the light source and positioned downstream of the light source and configured to have a long-wavelength transmitting end to convert the ultraviolet light or blue light. Spectrum to produce white light having a spectral power content in a wavelength range of 447 nm to 531 nm, the spectral power content is less than or equal to 10% of a total spectral power content in a wavelength range of 380 nm to 780 nm. The disclosed light emitting device may be incorporated into a light engine system. The light engine system further includes a control system that controls a driving current to one of the light emitting devices. |
