abstract |
Apparatus and methods for non-contact processing of substrates such as glass substrates on a gas layer are disclosed herein. The support apparatus includes a plurality of gas bearings disposed on a pressure cell supplied with pressurized gas. Certain embodiments are directed to methods of supporting and transporting softened glass. The method includes placing a glass bearing device adjacent the support surface with a plurality of outlet ports disposed therein. Some embodiments are directed to a glass processing apparatus including a gas table that is configured to continuously transport and support glass flow and a plurality of modular devices supported by a support structure and disposed on a gas table. Some embodiments are directed to a method of planarizing a viscous glass using a gas bearing device on one side or a gas bearing device on one side. |
