abstract |
A two-component adhesive composition is disclosed. The adhesive composition includes an isocyanate component including an isocyanate-terminated prepolymer, which is a reaction product of a polyisocyanate and an isocyanate-reactive component having an average molecular weight greater than 1,000, and the isocyanate-reactive component. Includes polyester polyols, which are the reaction products of polyols and polyacids. The NCO content of the isocyanate component is optionally between 3% and 9%. The isocyanate-reactive component includes a polyester polyol that accounts for 50% by weight or more of the isocyanate-reactive component. The composition further includes a polyol component including a polyether polyol having an average molecular weight of less than 1,500. The composition further includes an adhesion promoter. The adhesive composition has an average functionality of 2 to 2.4. The adhesive composition provides improved performance and processability. A method of forming a layered article is also disclosed. A layered article formed by this method is also disclosed. |
