titleOfInvention Detecting sound sequences in packet extensions
abstract The present invention provides systems, methods, and apparatus for detecting the presence of a long training field (LTF) in a packet extension of a high efficiency (HE) packet. A device requests a length of a packet extension to be used for a ranging operation. The apparatus receives a HE packet including a packet extension containing a selected number of LTFs, the selected number being based at least in part on the requested packet extension length. The apparatus determines to perform the ranging operation based on the packet extension containing one of the LTFs. In some aspects, the apparatus detects the presence of one of the LTFs in the packet extension based on a bit provided in the HE packet. In some other aspects, the apparatus detects the presence of one of the LTFs in the packet extension by extending the extraction sequence from the packet.
