abstract Embodiments of the present invention for integrating a full coaxial signal pin into an integrated circuit (IC) test socket are described. The socket can be made of a conductive metal (for example, aluminum) and can be drilled with a large number of holes for interfacing the conductive pins to a printed circuit board on which the socket is mounted and tested One between the ICs. These pins can include ground pins, low speed signal (and/or power) pins, and coaxial pin assemblies for high speed signals (HSS). Each coaxial pin assembly can include a conductive HSS pin having one of the HSS probes disposed in a spring loaded HSS cartridge, and an insulating bushing. The HSS pin is surrounded by the insulating bushing disposed in a hole in the conductive socket body, thereby forming a fully coaxial pin having a controlled impedance characteristic.
