abstract | The present invention provides a liquid crystal alignment film and a liquid crystal display element which are produced by using a highly efficient liquid crystal alignment film. The polysiloxane is polymerized with a monomer having a liquid crystallinity and a photosensitive group and a radical polymerizable group to obtain a polymer, thereby preparing a liquid crystal alignment agent. After obtaining the side chain type polymer film (1), the liquid crystal alignment agent is irradiated with polarized ultraviolet rays to carry out an alignment treatment, and then heated to realign the side chain (2) of the side chain type polymer film (1). Then, it is heated at a high temperature to fix the realignment state, thereby producing a liquid crystal alignment film. The heating temperature for the re-alignment is, for example, 200 ° C or lower, and is higher than the lower limit of the temperature range in which the liquid crystallinity of the side chain type polymer film (1) exhibits a temperature of 10 ° C to a temperature lower than the upper limit by 10 ° C. A liquid crystal display element was produced using the obtained liquid crystal alignment film. |
