The present invention discloses a process for the preparation of a compound of formula 1, wherein R1 is CHX2, CX3, CX2CHX2 or CX2CX3; each X is independently Cl or F; Z is optionally substituted phenyl; and Q is phenyl or 1- The naphthyl group, each as defined in the present disclosure, is optionally substituted; the method comprises contacting a compound of formula 2 with a hydroxylamine in the presence of a base.
