| abstract |
The present invention provides systems, methods and apparatus for supporting a bezel area of a display device. A display device can include a first substrate and a second substrate coupled by an edge seal. A shutter-based display element array can be positioned in an image forming area between the first substrate and the second substrate. A plurality of mechanical supports can be positioned within a border region of the exterior of the image presentation area and within the edge seal. Adjacent to one side of the bezel area extending in a direction perpendicular to a direction of shutter movement, adjacent mechanical supports may be separated from each other in the direction perpendicular to the direction of movement of the shutter by more than each of the mechanical supports One of the gaps. |
