The present invention provides an active ester resin, a method for producing the active ester resin, and a vinylbenzylated phenol compound as one of raw materials for producing the active ester resin, wherein the active ester resin can be formed to have excellent dielectric properties. It is useful as a component of the thermosetting resin composition of the cured body of the excellent heat resistance.
