abstract A dispersant useful in suspension polymerization processes which can be formed according to the polyvinyl alcohols and methods disclosed herein. For example, the dispersant may include: a polyvinyl alcohol having a degree of hydrolysis in the range of 60 to 80 mol%; an absorbance of not less than 0.3, which is related to the 0.1 wt% aqueous solution of the polyvinyl alcohol, The wavelength is measured at 320 nm; the block characteristics of the remaining ester groups are in the range of 0.4 to 0.5; and the cloud point is in the range of 35 ° C to 50 ° C, which is measured with respect to the 1% by weight aqueous solution of the polyvinyl alcohol. The carbonyl group is theoretically present along the polymer chain, which can be quantified by 1-H NMR spectral peaks.
