Method for producing butene and octene from ethylene |
abstract |
The method of synthesizing butene and octene from ethylene heterogeneous catalysis comprises simultaneously performing a two-reaction, in other words, C2 forms a first reaction of C4 and C2 forms a second reaction with C6 to form C8. The two reactions are carried out physically separately from each other and in the presence of an inert solvent having a boiling point between the boiling point of butene and the boiling point of octene. Hexene formed as a by-product of the first synthesis is used as a starting material for the second synthesis. At this second synthesis, hexene reacts with ethylene to form octene. The solvent is continuously circulated. This makes it possible to carry out the two synthesis in the liquid phase and to control its selectivity. Since the boiling point of the solvent is substantially equivalent to the boiling point of the by-product hexene, the by-product can be separated from the first reaction mixture together with the solvent as an intermediate boiler and transferred to the second reaction. |
