Use of cerium-containing particles for protection against UV radiation, methods for producing the same, and compositions containing the same |
abstract |
The present invention relates to the use of ruthenium-containing particles for protecting human cells from UV radiation and optionally from visible light to infrared light (IR), wherein the particles are preferably in the form of clusters of primary particles having The particle size ranges from 5 to 100 nm. A particular advantage of the use according to the invention is the possibility of matching the absorption of the electromagnetic radiation with the wavelength region to be absorbed in a defined manner via the particle size. The cerium-containing particles can be used as a biocompatible and biodegradable UV protection in cosmetic or medical preparations such as preferred sunscreens or in UV-protected cosmetic preparations for hair. |
