The present invention provides a liquid crystal alignment agent which provides a sealant or a liquid crystal alignment film which is excellent in adhesion to a substrate.nThe liquid crystal alignment agent of the present invention contains a polyimine obtained by imidating the following polyimide precursor and/or the polyimide precursor, and the polyimide precursor has a formula [1] A diamine diamine component and a tetracarboxylic acid component obtained as the structure shown in [1].n□n(R1 and R2 are a hydrogen atom, an alkyl group having 1 to 4 carbon atoms, or a group of the formula (2).nAt least one of them is a group of the formula (2).
