abstract The present invention provides novel compositions and methods that are effective in improving intestinal function and contributing to bone health. In one embodiment, the invention provides the use of the composition for the preparation of ameliorating intestinal function or constipation. In one embodiment, the invention provides the use of the composition for the preparation of a bone for maintaining or promoting bone health without degrading intestinal function. In one embodiment, intestinal problems or constipation are caused by calcium supplements. In another embodiment, intestinal problems or constipation are associated with other conditions or causes. In one embodiment, the compositions of the present invention comprise an acetate of calcium and magnesium. In another embodiment, the compositions of the present invention further comprise zinc acetate and/or vitamin D3.
