The present invention relates to a method of treating thrombosis using a method such as an IL-6 antagonist having binding specificity for IL-6 and a fragment thereof to prevent or treat a disease associated with abnormal blood coagulation or fibrinolysis. In a preferred embodiment, such patients will be included in a protein that exhibits elevated D-dimer or other coagulation-transfer proteins prior to treatment and selectively exhibits elevated C-reactive protein. Such treatments may involve the administration of other actives such as chemotherapeutic agents, anticoagulants, statins and the like. |
