titleOfInvention | Electric toothbrush (1) |
abstract | The present invention discloses an electric toothbrush device having capacitive touch control. The toothbrush includes a head portion having a rocking tuft block driven by a motor, a handle portion, and an elastically deformable capacitive touch control panel mounted in the handle portion. In one embodiment, the control panel includes movable sensor targets each paired with a corresponding capacitive sensor electrically coupled to a programmable microprocessor. A finger press is applied to a control panel adjacent to a sensor target that operates to change the capacitance of the respective sensor target-sensor pair. The microprocessor detects a change in capacitance that can be used to control the motor speed for varying the rate of oscillation of the tuft block. In one embodiment, a sensor target-sensor linear array is provided that is actuated by a sliding finger or thumb movement through the array. The present invention discloses a related method of operation. |
