titleOfInvention Universal self-limiting electrosurgical circuit electrode
abstract The present invention discloses a circuit electrode that can be applied to self-limiting electrosurgery of an electrosurgical procedure. The return electrode includes a conductive element and a plurality of spacers disposed on opposite sides of the conductive element. The conductive element (combined with the pad as needed) is used to limit the current density that is passed from the patient to the return electrode. The conductive element and the spacer together define two separate working surfaces on opposite sides of the return electrode. The return electrode can be safely applied to patients of virtually any size without the need to adjust the power settings of the electrosurgical generator.
