Provided is a liquid crystal display device having a first substrate and a second substrate disposed opposite to each other, wherein a liquid crystal layer containing a liquid crystal composition is sandwiched between the first substrate and the second substrate, and is disposed on the first substrate a thin film transistor, and a pixel electrode which is driven by a transistor and is made of a transparent conductive material, the thin film transistor has a gate electrode, an oxide semiconductor layer provided with an insulating layer interposed therebetween, and an oxide semiconductor layer is electrically connected a source and a drain, the liquid crystal composition containing one or more compounds selected from the group consisting of compounds represented by the general formula (LC3) to the formula (LC5), and one or more selected from the group consisting of (II-a) to a compound of the group consisting of the compounds represented by the formula (II-f). The liquid crystal display device of the present invention can prevent the voltage holding ratio (VHR) of the liquid crystal layer from decreasing and the ion density (ID) from increasing, and can solve the problem of display defects such as afterimages. |
