abstract |
The invention relates to a method for purifying a diaminophenthioxanthene compound, especially methylene blue. The process provides for simple and efficient purification by reducing the synthetic or commercially available diaminophenothiquinone compound to form its reduced complex. The reduced complex can then be purified in a more straightforward manner by, for example, recrystallization prior to its oxidation back to the diaminophenthiophene compound. |
