abstract According to an embodiment of the present invention, the present invention provides a water-absorbing copolymer and a method of producing the same. The water-absorbing copolymer is formed by a polymerization of a composition. Wherein the composition comprises: (a) a first monomer, wherein the first single system is 1-vinyl-3-(3-sulfopropyl)imidazolium betaine (1-vinyl-3-( 3-sulfopropyl)imidazolium betaine); a (b) second monomer, wherein the second single system is acrylic acid, acrylic salt, itaconic acid, itaconate (itaconic salt), 2-hydroxyethyl methacrylate (HEMA), or a combination thereof; one (c) initiator; and, one (d) cross-linking Agent.
