abstract | This invention relates to a device for extracting and recovering components from biomass feedstocks with pressurized low polarity water. The apparatus can be designed as two or more reaction towers, each of which is separately connected to a source of pressurized water, pressurized hot water, and pressurized cooling water. The tower is flooded with pressurized water, the tower and its contents are heated to a point where the water becomes pressurized low polarity (PLP) water, PLP water containing the extracted components is recovered, and the tower is cooled with PLP water. And removing waste biomass material from the tower to extract components from the biomass. |
