The present invention discloses a polymeric dispersant comprising a urethane backbone having at least one laterally attached to a quinone imine group, wherein the carbonyl of the quinone imine is chemically bonded to a single or fused aromatic ring. The aromatic ring may be substituted with various electron withdrawing or electron releasing groups. The dispersant also includes a solvent-solubilising chain of a polyether, polyester, polyacrylate, or polyolefin. It is desirable that the quinone imine group be derived from a quinone imine having two isocyanate-reactive groups such that the quinone imine is attached to the urethane backbone at two separate positions. |
