titleOfInvention Magnetic filter and method for removing magnetic and non-magnetic particles therewith
abstract A two-stage sealed magnetic filter is disclosed herein for continuously removing magnetic and non-magnetic contaminants from a liquid process stream. An elongated non-magnetic clamping sleeve surrounds the magnetic rod to attract magnetic contaminants and a sieve column to capture non-magnetic contaminants. The magnetic rod can be used without opening the housing to expose the interior to the environment. Therefore, during maintenance of the device, the magnetic rod can be removed from the clamping sleeve to release magnetic contaminants adhering to the clamping sleeve into the screen column, which partially covers the clamping sleeve. Workers can wash away contaminants from magnetic filters without exposure to potentially hazardous materials. Polymer sludge with iron compounds can be effectively removed from the liquid streams of chemical plants and refineries. Iron compounds are formed from carbon steel, which is ubiquitous in machinery factories and susceptible to corrosion by acidic contaminants.
