abstract |
The present invention discloses a system and method for treating irregular tooth alignment using a superelastic nickel-titanium alloy, a thermally activated Nitinol correcting line coated or uncoated with a composite resin so as to result in desired tooth alignment. The composite resin is formed with a plurality of beads that hold the wire in place, preferably on the lingual surface of the tooth. The present invention also discloses several alternative embodiments that utilize multiple composite brackets. It is a general object of the present invention to provide a close contact and low profile correction system, and in particular a tongue correction system that is significantly more comfortable, completely concealed and effective than existing correction systems. |
