abstract The present invention provides a casting die for suppressing cracks generated when a DLC film is provided on a substrate of a die, a method for producing a die, and a method for producing a film. The base is made of stainless steel, and the base layer is composed of tungsten carbide, that is, WC. A DLC film is formed on the base layer. When the DLC film is formed, the linear expansion coefficient of the substrate and the base layer and the length of the die are determined in such a manner that the stress acting on the base layer determined by the external force generated by the thermal expansion strain of the base layer and the base layer is smaller than the fracture stress of the base layer.
