abstract |
The present invention provides a method for producing an ester compound, which comprises reacting a compound having at least one cyclic structure of a norbornene ring and a norbornadiene ring with an alcohol and carbon monoxide using a palladium catalyst and an oxidizing agent. In the method for producing an ester compound in which an ester group is introduced into a carbon having a double bond in a ring structure, the palladium catalyst is contained in an amount of 10 mol% or more in terms of metal to the following formula (1).
