abstract The oscillating circuit achieves low power consumption and high noise immunity. The semiconductor device includes a first terminal and a second terminal connected to both ends of the quartz oscillator, and an inverter circuit having an input connected to the first terminal and an output connected to the second terminal, and a connection. A feedback resistor between the first terminal and the second terminal, and a variable capacitor connected to at least one of the first terminal and the second terminal, and a control circuit. The control circuit is controlled such that both the drive capability of the inverter circuit and the capacitance value of the variable capacitor are larger than in the first mode and in the second mode.
