abstract The foam acid glass etching medium includes a solvent, a fluorine source, and a nonionic surfactant. The foaming acid is in the form of a colloidal dispersion in which the gas is dispersed in a continuous liquid phase. The media is used to etch or polish glass sheets in a batch or continuous process. A method for etching or polishing a glass by providing a glass having at least one major surface and contacting the at least one major surface with a foam acid is described.
