Method and apparatus for preventing corrosion in a hot water system |
abstract |
A method of controlling an immediate redox potential in a hot water system to inhibit corrosion in a hot water system is disclosed. The method includes assigning one or more operational protection zones in a hot water system. The one or more operational protection zones include redox potential probes operable to measure the immediate redox potential at operating temperatures and pressures in a hot water system. The probe transmits the measured instantaneous potential to the controller, which evaluates and interprets the transmitted potential to determine if it meets the redox potential setting. If the measured potential does not meet the redox potential setting, the controller is operable to feed the hot water system with one or more active chemicals or to remove one or more active chemicals from the hot water system, and may be further manipulated to change At least one system parameter. |
