The invention provides a method for hydroxylating a phenol by reacting phenol with hydrogen peroxide to form a diphenol in the presence of a solid catalyst having a zeolite skeleton, wherein the solid catalyst comprises cerium oxide, titanium oxide and cobalt oxide. When the solid catalyst of the present invention is used for preparing diphenol, it can have extremely high diphenol conversion rate, selectivity and high hydrogen peroxide usage rate without using a high concentration of hydrogen peroxide. |
