abstract | The present invention provides a coating liquid for a metal oxide film which is formed into a film having sufficient hardness and good film forming properties for a transparent electrode such as ITO and which can be patterned by photolithography. The coating liquid for a metal oxide film of the present invention is a metal alkoxide represented by the formula (I), and an organotin compound represented by the formula (IIA) or the formula (IIB) is represented by the formula (III). Hydrolysis in an organic solvent in the presence of a metal salt.
