abstract |
The present invention provides a method for controlling oxidation of bromide ions in a wet flue gas desulfurization operation. The methods include scrubbing a flue gas containing bromide ions in a wet flue gas desulfurization operation, wherein the wet flue gas desulfurization operation comprises contacting the flue gas with a scrubbing medium. The oxidation-reduction potential of the scrubbing medium is then measured by an oxidation-reduction potential probe. A reducing agent is introduced into the wet flue gas desulfurization operation in response to the measured oxidation-reduction potential to reduce and/or maintain the oxidation-reduction potential of the scrubbing medium below the value of the bromide ion oxidation. |
