The negative electrode for a lithium ion secondary battery of the present invention has a current collector layer and a negative electrode active material layer formed of a tin structure, and the tin structure system has a plurality of protrusions that protrude slightly perpendicular to a main surface of the current collector, and The cross-sectional area of the protruding portion parallel to the main surface of the current collector layer has a shape in which the front end portion is smaller than the base end portion.
