abstract An object of the present invention is to provide a surface treatment agent for a self-depositing type copper which can form a film excellent in adhesion, corrosion resistance and electrical properties on a copper material by self-deposition, and which is excellent in liquid stability. The surface treatment agent for self-deposited copper of the present invention comprises 1 to 60 parts by mass of a water-soluble or water-dispersible polymer, 30 to 99 parts by mass of a water-based solvent, and 0.01 to 5 parts by mass of a copper-intercalator. And the oxidation-reduction potential at pH 3.0 is in the range of -500 to +200 mV (vs. SHE).
