abstract | The present invention relates to an ophthalmic composition comprising geranylgeranylacetone and a phosphate buffer, which is characterized in that the content of geranylgeranylacetone is extremely reduced after long-term storage. It is believed that this is because it inhibits the adsorption of geranyl-based geranyl-acetone to the wall of the ophthalmic container. Further, the ophthalmic composition containing geranylgeranylacetone and a phosphate buffer has less geranylgeranylacetone adsorbed to the contact lens. Further, the ophthalmic composition containing geranylgeranylacetone and a phosphate buffer is less likely to become cloudy even when stored at a low temperature. |
