abstract The present invention relates to a composition for dissolving and/or inhibiting deposit deposits on the surface of a system comprising an acidic component, a wetting agent, and a corrosion inhibitor. The composition may further comprise water. The acidic component comprises an alkanesulfonic acid such as methanesulfonic acid (MSA). The humectant comprises a surfactant. The corrosion inhibitor comprises an amphoteric surfactant. The alkane sulfonic acid is present in an amount of at least about 50 weight percent (wt%), the surfactant is present in an amount from about 0.1% to about 30% by weight, and the amphoteric surfactant is from about 0.025% to about 20% The weight % is present in an amount of 100% by weight of the alkane sulfonic acid, the surfactant, and the amphoteric surfactant combination. A method of dissolving and/or inhibiting deposits on the surface of a system comprising the step of contacting the surface of the system with the composition.
