abstract The present invention discloses a system for enumerating items such as cells in a sample. The system uses a low cost 匣 and a reader instrument based on planar waveguide imaging technology. Cells of a blood sample can be stained with a fluorescently labeled antibody and loaded into it to distinguish and quantify the cells of the differentially labeled cells.
