A known method for producing a porous carbon product, comprises the following method steps: (a) providing a porous carbon structure with a first specific surface area, (b) infiltrating the carbon structure with a precursor substance for graphitizable carbon, and (c) carbonizing the precursor substance with formation of the carbon product with a second specific surface area smaller than the first specific surface area. In order to provide an inexpensive product of porous carbon having a high porosity degree and a small surface area, which is particularly well suited for use as an electrode material for a lithium battery, it is proposed that providing the carbon structure according to method step (a) comprises: (I) providing a template containing pores, (II) infiltrating the pores of the template with a solution containing a precursor for non-graphitizable carbon, (III) carbonizing the precursor with formation of the carbon structure having the first specific surface area, and (IV) removing the template. |
