abstract |
The present invention relates to a continuous process for polyphasic aldol condensation reaction to give mixed α , β -unsaturated aldehydes by reaction of a mixture of two aliphatic aldehydes with different carbon numbers from 2 to 5 carbon atoms in the molecule in an upright tubular reactor in cocurrent in the presence of an aqueous solution of a basic compound, wherein the aldehyde mixture is dispersed in droplet form in the aqueous phase and the aqueous solution of the basic compound flows through the tubular reactor under laminar conditions as the continuous phase. |
