titleOfInvention | Optical film and liquid crystal display device |
abstract | This invention provides an optical film including a base film and an antiglare layer which is laminated on the base film and in which translucent fine particles are dispersed in a translucent resin, wherein the amount of the translucent fine particles is 25 weight parts or more and 50 weight parts or less per 100 weight parts of the translucent resin, and wherein the optical film satisfies the following conditions (1) to (5), when the weight average particle size of the translucent fine particles is D, the standard deviation of particle size distribution of the translucent fine particles is &sgr; , and the thickness of the antiglare layer is T: (1) D is 5 &mgr; m or more and 10 &mgr; m or less, (2) T is 10 &mgr; m or more and 20 &mgr; m or less, (3) D/T is 0.4 or more and 0.6 or less, (4) &sgr; /D is 0.1 or less, and (5) &sgr; /T is 0.05 or less. This invention also provides a liquid crystal display device using the optical film. According to this invention, it is possible to obtain an optical film capable of preventing occurrence of point defect caused by coarse particle, capable of avoiding display failure in wide viewing angles when used in liquid crystal display devices, and capable of obtaining high front side contrast and transparent image definition, and a liquid crystal display device using the same. |
