abstract | The present invention provides a method for producing acetic acid while inhibiting a rise in the concentration or production of hydrogen iodide in a carbonylation reactor or the corrosion of the carbonylation reactor. The processes for producing acetic acid comprise a reacting process for continuously reacting methanol with carbon monoxide in the carbonylation reactor in the presence of a catalysts system constituted by metal catalysts (a rhodium catalyst and the like), ionic iodide (lithium iodide and the like) and methyl iodide, wherein (i) maintain concentrations of the metal catalysts at 860 ppm or more based on the weight standard, a concentration of water at 0.8 to 15 weight%, a concentration of methyl iodide at 13.9 weight% or less and a concentration of methyl acetate at 0.1 weight% or more relative to the entire liquid phase in the reactor, and /or (ii) maintain concentrations of the metal catalysts at 660 ppm or more based on the weight standard, a concentration of water at 0.8 to 3.9 weight%, a concentration of ionic iodide at 13 weight% or less, a concentration of methyl iodide at 13.9 weight% or less and a concentration of methyl acetate at 0.1 weight% or more relative to the entire liquid phase in the reactor. |
