titleOfInvention | Analog to digital converter by exponent-logarithm conversion |
abstract | The present invention provides an analog to digital converter by using an exponential-logarithmic model. The analog to digital converter includes an exponential circuit which converts an input analog voltage signal to an analog voltage that is an exponential function of the input voltage. A positive feedback circuit is connected to the exponential circuit. A comparator is connected to the positive feedback circuit for comparing an output voltage of the positive feedback circuit with a reference voltage. As the magnitude of the analog input signal is inversely proportional to the pulse width generated by the comparator, analog to time conversion can be achieved. Based on the comparator output, a counter is employed to measure the number of pulses that corresponds to the magnitude of analog input signal. The output of the counter is a digital representation of the analog input signal. |
